Get down with T Bird and the Breaks-“Dancehall Freakin”, new EP

artwork courtesy of MOKB

Austin has been pumping out great musicians for quite a while now, and we have another to add to that list. T. Bird and the Breaks are an amazing group and so well-rounded. I love when I come across a band that knows how to get me up and moving to their music, and it seems like horns and saxophones always give me this vibe.

When I first heard T Bird and the Breaks, I would describe their sound to be a cross of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Brown, and Stevie Wonder, with a little crunch it. If you’re headed to SXSW, go check them out. Have a listen to them at the link below, provided by MOKB (My Old Kentucky Blog).

Damon Albarn, Flea, and Tony Allen make up ‘Rocket Juice and the Moon’

Rocket Juice and the Moon are a new band made up of three awe-inspiring rock artists; Damon Albarn (Blur and Goriilaz), Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Tony Allen (Fela Kuti). They are set to release their debut, self-titled album March 26. The three have come together to create a new sound that combines their three different styles to bring you a poppy, electric type feel, but still holding down deep bass riffs from Flea. The link below is for the first track “Hey Shooter”, and features Erykah Badu.

BONNAROO, another must see music festival this summer!

This must be the summer of the best festivals ever! Yeah, I said it, ever! From the Red Hot Chili Peppers, to Radiohead, not to forget PHISH, and the Beach Boys Reunion. The Tennessee Music festival was founded on Jam bands, and music for the people, rather than the hype/pop. What’s great is that you can find all genres of music being played through out the three days of festivities. Bonnaroo takes place annually in Manchester, TN., this year from June 7-10. Rock on!
