I’m damned surprised that Swear and Shake wasn’t at High Sierra, I mean their sound totally fits in with the music that was there. It’s upbeat, and seems like total dance/jam music. Loving the banjo, can’t get enough of the harmony, and the simple video makes the audio that much more enjoyable. Hope that lead singer Kari Spieler is single, ’cause she’s about to get a whole lot of attention from the men out there. If you really like them, grab the Maple Ridge LP, it’s been out since April.
Friends will release their new album Manifest! June 6. Today they give us a preview to the album with a freakishly well done video directed by Hiro Murai. It really reminds me of high school and “Thriller”. Watch it here and let us know what you think.
Since the beginning of April, I have been waiting, with anticipation (I know it’s not that long), for the release of The Walkmen‘s new album Heaven. Been stoked on it since I heard the album titled song, “Heaven”, been jamming that pretty much on a daily basis. I’m always referring to “feel good” music and I can’t mention enough that we need more of this flavor, possibly a genre for it. Like a ‘positive-inspirational-winning-feel-good’ music genre, or something… what do you think?
Enjoy! And catch them at Lollapalooza 2012.
A true video about the city they truly love and cherish, Detroit, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., brings life to the everyday common jobs and tasks around their hometown. “We Almost Lost Detroit”, is from their most recent record, It’s A Corporate World. Caveman came out with a video that follows the lives of professional wrestlers and some behind the scenes events that take place. “Thankful”, is pretty similar to the feel of The Lambchop video, “Gone Tomorrow”, but I’m a wrestling fan, so no complaints here. Great song as well, and am glad that I ran into it.
Missed the release of this video, “Born A Wolf”, in January, but it’s never too late to spread the love. Vows, a band from New Jersey, brings to life a sound that you can totally mellow out to. With their distinctive sound and enlightened lyrics, you’ll find yourself howling along in no time. Vows are a band definitely worth checking out, especially if you like live music, they seem to put on a great show from what I’ve seen.
