“Firefly”- Childish Gambino (video)

Childish Gambino just dropped a mix-tape at the beginning of the month called Royalty, which is full of amazing features such as RZA, Ghostface Killah, Beck, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, Bun B, Nipsey Hussle, and more. However, this video “Firefly”, is from last year’s album, Camp. Check out both projects, especially the new mix-tape, it’s sounding like it will be a big success!

Yes, that’s Beck rapping on the beginning of this Childish Gambino track. It’s been ages since we’ve heard any kind of work like this from Beck. Great collaboration, and hope for some more like this, soon.

Sneak preview of Beck’s new single produced by Jack White- “I Just Started Hating Some People Today”

So glad to hear more and more of Beck these past couple of months. Both songs that will appear on the single, “I Just Started Hating Some People Today” and “Blue Randy”, have a back-country feel to them, with Beck’s vocals that turn it into his own genre.

Great to see Jack White producing tracks for Beck… who would of thunk? But they make for a great duo on here, sharing both sides of their talent plates. Have a preview of both songs HERE!

Beck does “Corrina, Corrina” for Christy Turlington Burns’ upcoming compilation album, ‘Every Mother Counts 2012’

A great rendition of “Corrina, Corrina” recorded by Beck. Yes, that’s right, two Beck releases in one week. Christy Turlington Burns is putting together a compilation album, Every Mother Counts 2012, for her maternal-health advocacy organization Every Mother Counts. It looks to be a great compilation including some other amazing artists like Eddie Vedder, David Bowie, Lauryn Hill, Patti Smith, Sade, Coldplay, Rufus Wainwright, and Bono and the Edge.
Listen to Beck’s version of “Corrina, Corrina” here.

Beck is Back, with his rendition of “I Only Have Eyes For You”

I just read about Beck and how he will be at Outside Lands this summer, but was wondering if he would share any new projects before August. I mean, he’s one of the most gifted musicians out there, and I’d be perfectly content to see him perform all of his old stuff, which we grew up on, but Beck likes to surprise his fans. “I Only Have Eyes For You”, is a classic Doo-Wop song which was made famous by the Flamingos in the late 50’s early 60’s. Beck has covered “I Only Have Eyes For You”, keeping it rather close to the original, although making it his own just by providing all of the vocals. I never knew had such a smooth and genuine vocal range, I hope he does more singing coming up, on whatever else he is working on. This version will be the soundtrack to a 360 degree video projection art display, that will encompass the outside of Hirshhorn Museum in Washington, DC.

I best remember “I Only Have Eyes For You” from one of my favorite movies, A Bronx Tale. It would come on when “C” was around a girl he considered to be “the one”. Remember?
