Grant Hart of Hüsker Dü and Nova Mob has released his newest solo project entitled “The Argument.” Grant Hart has been making music for 3 decades now and is still kicking! Here’s a live performance from the old timer on Minnesota’s 89.3 The Current.
Although mostly known for featuring on Rihanna’s single “Stay,” Mikky Ekko’s music falls in the vein of indy rock/pop. Hailing from Louisiana, he has a psychedelic sound and thought provoking lyrics. Check out his single “kids.” There’s definitely no RnB to be had here!
Drawing influence from literary icons ranging from Shakespeare to Steinbeck, Mumford & Sons is the most visible contemporary band of their genre. Using markedly folk instruments like the banjo and mandolin, they have an interesting mix of bluegrass and indy rock among other things. Here’s the title track from their #1 album entitled “Babel.”
MS MR is a relatively new pop duo out of New York. They’re debut LP was only released on May 14 of this year. With their vintage sound and heartfelt lyrics, though, they’re well on their way to making their mark on the music industry. They’ve already gotten a foothold in Europe and show no signs of stopping any time soon.

Indie rockers Rogue Wave’s new album Nightingale Floors was released yesterday. No video yet but Vagrant, their label, was generous enough to drop the audio stream for their song “College” from the aforementioned album. I like it. Pretty text book indie rock, but it’s good stuff!
Portugal. The Man is a band from Portland that has been doing pretty damned well for themselves since their signing to Atlantic Records in 2010. They even worked with Danger Mouse on Evil Friends, their album that dropped only yesterday. Enjoy!
